Psychotherapy

I offer traditional psychotherapy blended with body process therapy and spirituality. In traditional therapy we can get an important understanding of our “issues” (how and why we are stuck) and how we can change. When body process therapy is added, we can learn how we have embodied our issues and learn to release the important life force energy that is in fact blocked (stuck) within us.

When we locate and release our energetic blocks, we have more of ourselves: Our creative life force energy flows more freely within and through us, leading us to feel a greater sense of personal empowerment and fulfillment.

Psychotherapy graphicThe type of therapy I offer is a blend of traditional therapeutic techniques, body process therapy (Core Energetics), and spirituality. I also practice subtle energy healing techniques. With this blending of techniques, personal growth occurs in a more dynamic and integrated way, for optimal progress.

Traditional therapeutic techniques help us understand our issues and problems in linear conceptual language, with a solid, meaningful sense of what our “psychological conflicts” are, what our defenses are, and how we can choose to act differently.

Body process therapy, using the Core Energetics model, helps us to know how we have embodied our issues and who we really are, beyond “our issues.” In traditional therapy we can have a lot of understanding about what our problems are, but as long as our view remains at the verbal, conceptual level we still are stuck living them: When we see (and feel) how we have embodied our issues with actual energetic blocks (and other forms of energy imbalance), we can choose to release the blocks and have more of our life force flowing through us, to then, in the present moment, embody more fully who we really are.

It seems to me that deep personal transformation cannot occur without spirituality. A spiritual context to personal growth work gives us the container of “truth” or “reality” that we need in order to become whole. In my view of spirituality, the benevolent living energy that is God is all around us, fully supporting us, and within us. Personal growth and spiritual growth are intertwined and inseparable: As we grow we become more whole, more “real,” and more connected to the world. Personal growth involves finding our true self and life purpose, our authenticity.

Subtle energy healing techniques include sensing and directing life force energies within and to the client, to facilitate healing and integration. Sensing my client’s energy flow and directing life force energies to my client help the therapeutic process along! Clients also learn to sense energy flow within themselves, and often also around them and in others.

Testimonials

I really appreciate working with Sarah. When I began therapy sessions with her, I was the classic type A personality. I was and still am a really, high achieving, successful individual, of which I am very proud, but/and I was living too much in my head. I thought I was really in touch with my feelings and that’s the whole point, I thought I was, great thinker that I am! It’s just that I wasn’t really feeling my feelings. And I didn’t even really know it for all these years! With Sarah, while doing the body therapy work, I became more conscious of when I was actually feeling my feelings and when I thought I was. Then I became more conscious of how I was really feeling. Then I became more conscious in general: of my feelings, my values, my desires, my beliefs, my real beliefs (what I really believe), my false beliefs (what had been instilled in me or what I thought I should believe), other people, and so on! I am deeply grateful for this process and continue to work with Sarah to become more who I am. I’m still a top achiever, very successful in my field, and now I have my private life too.

I started to work with Dr. Bronson because of anxiety. I had that anxiety since I was a kid, because of an injury. Little did I know that it came from earlier in my childhood. We traced it back to its sources and over the work of our therapy it has changed, so that it’s pretty much gone. I have done mostly traditional therapy with her but in the last year we have done some “grounding techniques” from the body therapy approach that have also helped with the anxiety.

I have been working with Sarah doing the more “traditional” kind of therapy. I have ADHD and it has been affecting my relationship with my girlfriend. I also use a coach for ADD and medication but even with those approaches I still needed someone to help me handle relationship issues. Sarah knows a lot about ADHD and has been helping me communicate better with my girlfriend about why I do what I do, as well as strategize how to handle the ADD stuff, with better alternatives and techniques, as well as compromising. My girlfriend has said that it has been helping and that things are improving! I highly recommend Sarah to anyone with these types of issues.

I’ve been working with Sarah for about a year. I began doing the body therapy with her after I had gone as far as I could in more traditional therapy. I was drawn to Sarah because of her warmth and creativity: She has a whole variety of ways to get at what is really going on, by-passing the talk and getting to the heart of the matter for each session. I have a lot of fear and anxiety and trust issues when it comes to relationships and haven’t been able to progress out of that in my previous therapy. With Sarah we do the body work which focuses on where the energy is in my body, what it feels like, if it moves or is stuck, and I discover what not just what my feelings really are but I find ways to hold the feelings in my body and mind consciousness instead of pushing them away or blocking them. And when I simply “be present” with the feelings, then I have discovered new ways of dealing with my feelings. In ways that I don’t really understand on an intellectual level, this work is much more empowering than any kind of therapy I’ve had in the past. I feel stronger, more whole, more empowered to take actions in my life that are good for me, and more creative in general. Low and behold, this has led me to be more trusting in relationships, because I trust myself more. I have begun to date again because I feel more confident and know more what I want in a relationship. I also recognize what I don’t want and since I know more about energy I am better at reading my date’s energy and figuring out if he’s “good for me.” I highly recommend Sarah as a gifted and caring therapist.
